Plastic wraps such as Saran wrap are made of polyethylene. It is a polymer of ethylenes. There are other polymers of plastics, but most wraps are polyethylene. They can be as strong as the thickness of the film. A polymer is a chain of like groups. It is a branched chain so they are connected in all directions.
