If, by "sperm mother cell", you mean "primary spermatocyte", the answer is 4. If you mean either Type A or Type B spermatogonia, the answer is much higher.

Two different kinds; an X bearing sperm & a Y bearing sperm.

Gametogenesis of the egg can only produce one kind; an X.
