While I certainly agree that there should be a major division between violent and non-violent crime, theft is still theft. I cannot for the life of me see where it is worse to deliberately steal from Mrs.Edna Wiggins than it is to deliberately steal from Microsoft or from the government, you are still taking money out of someone else's pocket.
Perhaps you should so a little more research into "perfect crimes", too. You might be surprised how few robberies actual go unpunished. Even if the authorities don't solve a crime, the victim can often become very single-minded about "revenge", and visit a far worse punishment on a perpetrator than the courts would have.

Most of us say that if we were to know that we haven't got much long to live we would do many things that otherwise wouldn't do i.e. robbery! but when it comes to it, people don't carry it out, it is a matter of self respect, morals, principles, love and family.
As for no-one getting hurt..... there is always someone that GETS hurt no question about it! If you are thinking about getting involved I hope you get caught.......... no offence, but you do it once, you would do it again, the question is what excuse would you use next time?
Your dad might have changed, but the criminal side of him still there, and he cannot be such a good person, as he wants his child to commit a crime.

You do NOT do it!!!! People may not be physically hurt in the 'plans' for a robbery, but someone will be hurt nonetheless.
Sorry about your father being terminal, but the leopard hasn't changed his spots. He lived as a criminal, and he's dying as one. Anyone who has cleaned up their act, doesn't go about planning more criminal activity. If you become involved in this scheme and are caught, you could be facing a lengthy jail term, and you'd deserve it. Actually, you owe society the favor by reporting this plan to the police. If you're not involved but know about it, then should the authorities learn you were aware and did nothing about it, you could still be facing charges.

No-one here is going to be able to talk you out of it if you really want to do it, you have to weigh up the risks for yourself.
The very real chance of getting caught and a prison sentence, how will that affect the rest of your family, once you have a criminal record it is very difficult to re-start your life.
If you don't get caught you will always have the fear that the police will catch up with you.
What if something goes wrong and you have to use violence, or the people you are with decide to carry weapons and use violence without your prior knowledge.
The fact you are asking this qeustion suggests that deep down you know the answer already.

If anyone thought there was a chance they would get caught, they wouldn't do the crime. Every criminal thinks they've got the perfect crime. Don't do it - your father would never forgive himself if you went to prison. And he could die in prison.

Is your father name Joe or Robin! Then if you ever do your father perfect plan for a robbery, be sure that when the police couldn't work it out, you will be the first one to be picked up.
By then your father probably won't be with you to see you at the Rehabilitation Center.
So good luck.

No!!.Don't ever get involved in Crime. Your Father spent time in prison;that doesn't count for success as a criminal.
Even if you thought you were successful; it would always be on your mind and ruin your peace of mind.
So don't even go there !!

Crime is crime.
It is too bad about the cancer, and I will not comment on the moral story of that (if any).
But, the second bit boils down to: Someone is asking you to rob somewhere. Do you do it? I would not.
