nobody is "assigned" to any particular class in Canada, indeed there is no identifiable class. If there were, holidays on Parliament Hill will be very different, for example. By and large, at venues like Parliament Hill, up to a million people can be milling around and it is not obvious even whether or not the people there are citizens of Canada or visitors from elsewhere.
If people were "assigned" to a class, someone would have to be the "assinger' and we have no such person or class of persons in this society. We do have social stratification here, in that some neighbourhoods, for example receive better services than others. We have some very wealthy people and some very poor people and lot of people in between. We have some people who are born here and some who emigrate from elsewhere.
when we put all of these people together it is not possible to tell to which group they belong so I would say that we definitely do not, as a society, assign people to social classes.

Officially, "social classes" do not exist. Neither here in Canada, nor in the US for that matter, but money dictates otherwise, wherever you live.

not really, there is a social difference but we don't really get treated differently, our health care and education is free and we all get equal service (accept those who go to private scholls and our first private hospital opened in toronto not too long ago......
