There are 84/3 = 28 cells which contribute to the emf
That means that 2 cells are reversed.
These 2 cells cancel the contribution of 2 other cells, leaving 28 cells to contribute to the emf

Actual value of voltage it is supposed show when all the batteries are connected in series is,

32 x 3 = 96

Every battery of 3 produces negative 6 volts when connected in reverse.

that is, Calculated Value minus Apparent Value shown = 12 V

and 96 -12 = 84.

that proves, 2 Batteries are connected in reverse.

Right..Kirchoff's law..summation of the voltage in a loop.
96-84v =12v ..
12/6=2

Two but I'd love to know why you are asking the question, Have you actually done this?
I suppose it could be four cells that have short circuited.
