I think the word tolerance has some sort of anger or dislike behind it. It basically means, we don't like it, but we'll "tolerate" it. Acceptance is a much better word.

Sure it can be a cop out, sure it could be a principle, it all depends on how it's used.

Tolerance is a nice way of saying we dont like but we'll allow it. Dangerous point of view- not everything should be "tolerated".
