Most likely you will have post-surgical pain, particularly immediately after surgery, but the medical staff will give you medication for the pain. As with all hysterectomies, you will be required to take things easy for a few weeks...no heavy lifting, no vaccuming, no heavy laundry (bending and hanging sheets, blakets, that sort of thing). All your stitches are internal. With vaginal hysterectomies, the recovery time is much less than for those who've had an abdominal hysterectomy. Those people have two places to heal..internally AND the incision.
If you have any post-surgical pain once you leave the hospital, report it to your doctor, and of course if you experience any bleeding beyond the normal that must be reported too. What you will experience is a drainage that will come from your vagina. This will be a pinkish/orange color which is completely normal. Do NOT wear tampons. A light pad or pantyliner will do the job.
Expect to have this drainage for about a week. As the days go by, you will experience less and less of it. Remember, everyone's different.

All depends, I was in pain for about 3-4 days. The hardest thing is the healing process, because you do not hurt that bad so you do your normal activities and end up hurting yourself and then taking longer to heal.

No I had one 2 years ago and the same day I was up and out of bed, I had a few small sutures in my navel but that was all. Good luck, believe me it will be the start of a new life!!!

Moderate pain. Not too bad. The usually give adequate pain meds in the hospital and send some home with you too. If you are in pain in the hospital, remember to tell the nurse...they don't just offer meds...you HAVE to tell them.
