A camisole has abuilt in bra, but a tank top does not. A Camisole is usually thinner than the tank top, but that's only for the ones I bought, I don't know about the general.

a tanktop is something u would wear like outside, like to the park or whatever. A camisole is something kind of like a tank top but its has this thing on the inside kind of like a bra, but not really, u would wear a camisole to sleep.

I would say that the difference being a tank top is more for casual, dress down days as oppose to a camisole which is dressier and available in luxury like material i.e. silk, satin, organza, etc.
Tank tops are in cotton, lycra mostly & are comfortable, stretchable, practical for daily use.
Overall, they both serve the same function & look about similar =)

a camisole (or cami) is like a spaghetti strap shirt that you wear under something. for example if you have a see-through shirt you could wear a cami under it. a tank top has thicker straps and you can wear those pretty much anywhere (depending on how big the straps are) hope that helps =)

Camisole's are normally undershirts with skinny, adjustable straps while tanks have thicker straps and are normally made with thicker material.

Camis-
*usually have a built-in bra
*thinner & tighter...makes them good for excercise & layering
*thinner straps that are ajustable
*usually more expensive
*more designs like rhinestones, beads, etc.
*great to wear under light colored shirts like white, yellow, baby blue, etc.

Tank Tops-
*thicker material
*only looks good when layered with another tank or worn by itself
*no built-in bra

Tank tops dont usualy have non-adjustable straps, patterns on them sometimes: warmer, sometimes have ribbed fabric. Also can be a racerback style ... or have thick straps instead of thin ones.

A cami has a build in bra and , so adjustable straps. IT usually goes under clothes.. its softer typically has thin straps and is tighter fitting to slim your curves.

a tank top has thicker straps. camisoles have spaghetti straps. Both can have bras built in. although tanks can be pretty, camis are fancier. usually made with silky fabrics and lacey trim.
