There are some cultural differences to recognize. People in the South and Latinos are more flirtatious than Anglos and Yankees. On the other hand, some guys operate purely out of lust and are trying to optimize their chances. You can get a clue about a guy if you ask him how many relationships he has had. If he's had more than 5, be cautious.

The same reason women do the same. Flirting can be harmless or could have other implications to it. Friendly flirting can be something done at work with co-workers and it doesn't necessarily mean anything. Women do the exact same and it can be confusing for us too.
