The best thing you can do to help her, as others have said, is to make sure NOT to laugh at her or maker fun of her or anything. She has a medical problem with the size or strength of her bladder that she can't control, and she already feels really bad about it. Tell her it's no big deal to you and that you know she'll grow out of it when she's ready. Also, ask her if her parents are understanding and supportive of her, and if not, have her show them sites like this so they can see that she has a medical condition that isn't her fault, and that she isn't alone.
There are medicines that her doctor can prescribe that work for some, but not all kids, although they usually only work on the night that you take them and the bed-wetting comes back if you stop. There are also alarms that can help by waking her up with a loud noise as soon as the first drop of urine leaks out of her bladder into her clothes or bed. You can find some of these at http://www.bedwettingstore.com if you want to look, or have her parents take a look. These can take a few weeks to work, but if she really wants to stop, they can really help! Also, she could try holding onto her urine for a little extra long during the day after she feels like she needs to go -- NOT too much longer, just like 5-10 minutes extra, and NOT at school or someplace where she might have an accident -- but this can help stretch out her bladder and make it stronger so that eventually she'll have a better chance of "holding it" during her sleep at night.
Good luck to you and your cousin... she has a REALLY frustrating problem, and lots of other kids have it too... let her know she's not alone and keep giving her your encouragement and support!!

did her mom or dad wet the bed at that age? my son has a problem with this and so did his father, until puberty. sometimes there is a hormone that is supposed to kick in earlier, that doesnt until the child hits puberty. there is a nose spray that helps this hormone kick in earlier, but it didnt completely stop my son from wetting, although it did help some. but the side effects were high blood pressure and some other serious things, so i just stopped using it. the most important thing is to not make fun of her. i'm sure she feels bad enough about it and if she could stop it she would. she could try the nose spray, or she could use the absorbent night pants, until the problem corrects itself. let her know you care!!!

It has to do with the size of her bladder and is a medical condition also it is sometimes hereditery. My friend's daughters both were bed wetters and she learned that her husband was as a child, too. She should see a doctor, they can help.

Some kids have a serious problem with this and you shouldnt make fun of them. Tell her to get some of those pull ups for big kids. I guess they look like real underwear and work well.
