Try approaching the school - if they say they have no funds - approach the governors and maybe the PTA/PTFA or whatever body supplies additional funding to see if they can supply aprons for the kids to wear - failing that - ask if they can seek a form of funds or sponsorship.

How about opening this question to dads aswell,I am a parent govenor at my girls school, because i want to be involved.
The answer i think should be, discussed with teacher's aswell
If there are concern's that little sarah is comming home covered in paint and there seems to be no equipment to protect the child then the activity should not be done Or old clothes should be warn, the paint schools use has to be washable aswell, talk to the teacher concerned, if no sadisfactory result is reached, then a letter to the governing body usually does the trick.
Hope this helps, regards Terry.

Last year i sent my daughter in with an old shirt and never had the problem, This year i bought a cotton apron from B&Q for a pound, which is a lot cheaper than buying new shirts or blouses. she keeps it in her bag until they are doing art etc.You just need to tell your daughter she will wear it. Our old school said they used paints that wash out ( haha) and provided cover if the kids wanted to use it.

hi
i do feel for you as both my girls have come home with paint, glue and almost anything sticky on their clothes.
the problem with schools today as from yester year when i was a child.
is that there are too many rules in school to protect the children/teachers. for instances aprons if the school does have them and are available to the children to wear the teacher is "NOT" allowed to help the child to put them on. this is in case a child abuse complaint is made by the parent. so most of the time teachers try to not help the children in his/her class on this matter apart from asking the child to put an apron on what can they really do?
there is so much teachers can and can't do these4 days as from when i was a child the teacher was classed as the school parent. making sure we were wearing the correct items for the messy jobs of school life

I don't have this problem but my sister does and with four kids it can get very expensive. I think you should say something to the school its not fair on you and your wallet! My sister complained at a committee meeting for the school and found a lot of parents felt the same, they did a fundraiser thing and got apron's for all the children so there school clothes are protected!

Well, this really stinks. I've ruined a few garments in art class because they didn't provide an apron for me. Just tell your kid to wear cheaper or older clothes on art day. If the student has art every day, that might be a problem. And if the teachers allow it, send you child in with an old oversize t-shirt to cover his garments.

Schools are obliged to purchase paints that can be washed out of garments. Check with the Headteacher that they are using bona fide suppliers.
Alternatively you could ask why your child is not wearing aprons/overalls for 'messy' work - certainly no primary school that I know of does not have aprons/shirts available to protect the uniform.

im not a mom or even a parent hell im not even female but i can see how that would get annoying. id suggest teling your kids to bring something to use as a smock they dont require it but just teach your kids to and they will come home home with less stains. get them an old shirt or something to wear and have them keep it at school and wear it when they paint and use glue

i had the same problem with my daughters school so i sent her in with an old shirt and requested that she was to wear it whilst painting, which she did, but i found that vanish oxi multi is great to use too and a littlke goes a long way, so if you do try it, rub a little neat onto the stain before putting it into the wash, then add a little in your washing machine with your regular washing powder or tablets

My daughter is in reception class and they use school aprons but when their older the school asks for the children to take in an adult t.shirt so that they are totally covered. I'd ask the school if your children can do this I'm sure all the other parents will support you and the teachers will agree.
