Your question is kind of confusing. I'm not sure I follow it, but if the student claims that they forgot their book at home, and is then asking the teacher to give her another one, then as a teacher I think I'd remind her that her book is supposedly at home. Once she brought it to school, I'd then give her the work to make up. If the student has simply lost the book, I wouldn't give her another one, rather I'd loan her one to use at school. She'd stay after school to complete the make-up work.

If you’re a teacher asking this question, then should change jobs because you college training should cover this type of situation.

If, as I suspect you are the student, you are a partner in an implied contract to participate in the learning process, and that means being at class and prepared. If the teacher is punishing you in some manner for not being prepared, too bad. You must suffer the consequences of your actions.

I would assume she laid out on Monday to have more time to study for the test. Aren't students responsible for keeping up with their own textbooks?

I, a teacher, would hold the student accountable for their actions. Far more important than perhaps the single lesson or test are skills such as organization, preparation, and self-reliance. In this case in my class one would receive very low marks, but would always have the opportunity on the next test....

I would give them the book. I guess I don't see the biggie. Unless you have something against the student.
