First I want to say that I am sorry about how some people are telling you to work for money. I don't think they are considering the fact that you may either not have much time to do so, or you may not be well enough to do so.

I think that you should check with your school ahead of time and ask them if it would be okay for you to wear a hat or something else to cover your head. Tell them that since winter is coming you think that you may be too cold with no hair. You should also just tell them the truth and I think that they will be empathetic towards you and make an exception.

Talking to your friends about what is going to happen ahead of time will really help. They will be prepared for your new look. It would also help if you shared with your friends how you felt about it and that you are afraid people will make fun of you. If they are your real friends they will not pick on you and they will stand up for you if someone else does.

I think that if you ask your doctor then you will know the answer on weather or not you are going to have to have your head shaved. It may be possible that they only need to shave some hair under all the other hair, depending on where the incision needs to be made. Most doctors are quite considerate when it comes to keeping peoples looks intact, they do not intend to mutilate you.

Speak to someone at your hospital about any chairty programs that offer wigs. I know there is a program called 'locks of love' or something like that, where people can donate their hair to have it made into wigs for people who lose their hair for medical reasons. It could be quite possible for you to donate your own hair ahead of time (yes you still have to shave it all off) and have it made int a wig so you would be looking like your old self again.

If all of that fails, just be patiant about your hair, it will grow back soon enough. What is important is your health. If they have to shave most of it off, then be brave and go for the whole baldie look. This way it will all grow back evenly.

Good luck with everything, I hope it all works out for you.

Try and ask family and friends to donate money for your wig and tell them not to tell anyone. If they laugh which I'm sure they won't and they tell people they must not very trustworthy. As for the bandanna you should tell your school about your condition and I'm sure they will make an acceptation. In fact one of my best friends from when I was younger was going bald from cancer now she is fine and has her hair back and nobody made fun of her. Also, people donate hair to be made ito a wig for cancer or brain surgery patients go to this website and scroll down to " Where to Buy a Wig" it tells you a number to call if you can't afford it http://www.cancerandcareers.org/women/appearances/item?item_id=5018. If anyone makes fun of you that's just mean!!!!! I wish you the BEST of luck and I hope all goes well with the surgery.
Sincerely,
*princess*

It's Halloween! Guess what that means...the wigs are on sale! Check in stores now to find a wig that you like and then go back and buy it after Halloween when it goes on sale. Chances are you'll be able to find a cute one! It might not look really real, but if you braid it or something it might look better. Also, talk to the people at your school and see if they will let you break the rules. And know that what you look like isn't important, it's how you feel about your self and if you are healthy that matters. Good luck with the surgery!

Have Mom speak to the school, if you promise to wear a simple headscarf or bandanna that they can approve of I'm pretty sure they will allow it. Please speak to the social worker at the hospital about getting a wig though, because there are places that donate their services if they know there is a need. If you don't know how to get in touch with a hospital social worker ask the nurse because they will. Keep positive for your surgery and no matter what happens, the hair will regrow.
Anyone stupid enough to make fun of you because of a surgery will have aroused the Karma gods so keep that in mind.

I had a similar experience about 2 years ago. see I had cancer and lost my hair even though the schools don't usually allow hats most schools allow hats for special situations like cancer or brain surgery so you should ask the principal anyways. also why do you even bother wearing a hat because most people Will know your bald anyways and believe me they wont make fun of you regardless of how cruel people are at school there's an boundary of making fun and with something that serious they wouldn't dare do it. At least no one did to me.

Just dont worry about the people who you think will disapprove of your new hairstyle. If they make fun of you then they obviously dont no what your going through. If they do have to shave your head, of just a partial piece of your hair and you go back to school and the kids start making fun if you, dont take it so hard. Your real friends will stand out, and the jerks that just dont understand will also. I wish you luck, on the surgery and on the going back to school part! Hang in there and you'll be fine!!!

If you need brain surgery I'd be more worried about that than the lack of hair. They most likely will shave your head, or at least part of it. I can't imagine the school won't make an exception for you. And also, if anyone teases someone who just had brain surgery, they are a complete ******.

If you have your head shaved and people at school make fun of you...that's thier problem!! Only an a$$ would make fun of someone for a shaved head after brain surgery. Your hair will grow back and it will be a thick, beautiful head of hair. And you know what...bald is in!! Remember how cute Natalie Portman was when she shaved her head for the movie V for Vendetta? Good luck with your surgery and take care of yourself!!
