Great question. I think that's part of the reason the divorce rate is so high. People get caught up in throwing a huge wedding and making sure everything is perfect and don't concentrate on the real reason you get married. I'm not sure some people even talk about the future or their goals before they get married. Many people think marriage will change a person for the better. When you take those vows you better love that person for who they are right then because you're commiting to spend the rest of your life together. I think most people these days have the attitude that "oh well if it doesn't work out I can always get divorced" That's no way to start a marriage. I think if people took as much time and energy into discussing their hopes, dreams and goals as they spent on planning the wedding, the divorce rate would drop tremendously.

Those that are spending all their time planning the wedding, aren't even looking at the future at the time. Most females have their wedding day planned in their head at a very early stage. Their all wrapped up in actually being close to a dream they had years prior.
Part of your planning the future together should of been going on before you set the date of the wedding.

I agree. I would fly to Vegas and have a quick wedding. It's the marriage I would work on. Why spend all that money on one day? I would rather use it on a down payment for a house...

Even worse, spending more money than it would cost for a down payment on a house.
The house can be sold and split up later, the wedding money is just money down the drain.

some people put on a production, but forget that after the begining of the show now it is time for the show and they don't know how to act.
