oh well. maybe u broke one of the teeth on the usb cord. that might stop it frum reading correctly. or u pressed a rong button. mine asks me if im going to use this cord once with my product or to remember it. idk. confusion yea?

If Microsoft says it doesnt recognize it, I would take it into the IPOd Store because my iPod ddi the same thing, and it wouldnt recognize the device. it turned out that somehow, the software on the ipod didn't work with the Computer, so I just took it into the Apple store and they just cleared the iPOd and everything ended up working out.

You haven't droped the device?
I think you need to install the software that comes with your apple ipod. This needs to be done via a disk that the ipod should come with.
