I live abroad and worry a lot. I haven't talked to my family for a month and they don't reply to my e-mails so I am very worried that something bad has happened. Does anyone know how I can chq for deaths on the internet so I can put my mind to rest?

That's harsh. I do love my family and I think people are getting confused. I have their telephone number and address but they aren't answering my calls or replying to my e-mails.

you should really get their phone numbers. all i can think of is to look up the internet to see if you can find their local newspaper. do you know what it`s called? it will probably be something gazzette, then check to see if there is a births, marriges and deaths section for the last few weeks. failing that, phone a british directory enquiries with their name and address for theeir phone number. one of the numbers is 118118 but don`t know how to go about phoning it from abroad!!!! have you got good reason to think someone has died, have they been ill or are you just a worrier? good luck.xx

All deaths have to be reported to the council of that area. Depending on how the person died, if the police were involved then they would also have this on record. Check with the GP they were registered with, or even a friend you know about. The Internet will tell you via Births & Deaths of that area, or check with the local paper of that area. It would be in the Obituary Column. Hope I have helped somewhat.

You may send a return paid telegram to the Local Administration. They have birth and death records. They will notify you, based on your relationship with the deceased person. I received one like that couple of years back. But you have to mention the name, address, religion and any specific particulars of that person like Doctor, teacher, horse breeder etc.

Try going to British Newspapers websites. Sometimes they will have the obituaries section online, but I'm not 100% sure. Hope this helps!

There is no 'official' way of checking. All you can do is try to get in touch with someone who knows them and see if they have heard from them.

Don't panic though, their internet's probably just broken or something.

Why do you think they may be dead?
They maybe on holiday, the computer/internet may be down?
The hit man you sent may have missed and they are now in hiding?

I would try the coroners office of the town where they live or the police: either should have records of any deaths. Hope everything's OK...............
