Why do my fish keep jumping out of my fish tank? There is a little spot by the filter that is supposed to be there, and altough they are different fish, (community/semi-aggresive), I've never seen this before. This sounds silly, but I am serious, please help!

well it is like a 15 gallon tank with community fish and community frogs. The tank is clean and the temperature is right. They were bought about 4 weeks ago and until last week were fine.

I had the same problem some time ago. I would find a fish on the kitchen floor in the mornings for 3 days. I realized though that there was an aggressive fish in the tank that chased them terribly. Somewhere in the chase they would jump to escape injury from the bully and if it was under the open spot they were out of the tank and on the floor. I lost 7 fish like this. I only have Cichlids in the tank now and I haven't lost a fish again. The other 7 fish were non aggressive fish (not cichlids).

You may have one fish in there that is an agressive chaser. If so the others are fleeing him because the tank is too small to get totally away from him. All fish will jump to get away from a heated chase. The opening is probably lighter or darker than the rest of the cover when viewed from below the water and they go for it.
Watch carefully from a distance and see if you can spot the terrorist chasing.
Water quality is a remote possibility, are you doing your regular (weekly) partial (25-30%) water changes to keep the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates at or near the 0 range?

Have you checked your water quality?
Just because the tank looks clean doesn't mean the water isn't toxic. The most important tests in a new tank are ammonia, nitrIte, and pH.
Here's a good article on what happens in a new tank and how to keep the water from getting toxic while your biofilter bacteria get up to speed.

maybe your fish are just not used to that spot and it could be that they don't like the tank or are just starting to get a little to big for it or you need to clean the tank or the temp is too cold or warm because sometimes those water filters can be be wrong.

It sounds like they are just trying to show off to one another. I've never heard of anything like that. Normally people don't put aggressive fish in a small environment like that and maybe they are trying to show to others in the tank who's the boss... lolz.
If that's not it, try to check the temperature and clean out the tank, maybe they are trying to signal you.
Good luck.

That is just what happened to my fish! I had a small spot in the lid just like that, I cut up an old pair of panyhose and taped it over the hole.

best answer i've seen yet was a jumper and a lid,you never said what kind of fish that means a lot, some are just natural jumpers like a lot of sharks are!

It would be helpful to know what type of fish they are. One reason for them to be jumping could be the nature of the fish themselves. Another reason would be caused by aggression from other fish make their tankmate to jump to escape the 'bullies'.
