To get on Medicaid you have to have proof of pregnancy. Is it just me or does this seem ridiculous? Isn’t the point of Medicaid to have the insurance in order to find out for sure you are pregnant? What do people do to get “proof” of pregnancy--when they can't afford to go to the doctor's office in the first place? Can they just take in a pregnancy test?

You can go to the hospital say ya sick or something to that effect and they'll do a pregnancy test. Tell them to bill you. Medicaid will pay for it once you are approve all you have to do is send them the bill. Or if you pay out of pocket for it they'll give you the money back. As long as you have proof it was something to do with your pregnancy. I had to do it with a few things good luck.

Where I'm from this is also the way Medicaid works. I'm on Medicaid. And the way you do it is you go to the health dept. and they do a pregnancy test if your pregnant then you apply for Medicaid and if your eligible for Medicaid then it pays for the pregnancy test also. If your not pregnant then you pay for the test. That's how it works here.

You can go to a planned parenthood clinic and get a free pregnancy test. You should have proof that you're pg to get on it because if you didn't, everyone would be in there saying they're pg just to get it. There are many places you can go to get a free pregnancy test and I'm sure they'll give you the papers you need to take to the medicaid office.

U can just take a pregnacy test. Who is to say that it is truly yours. Sounds crazey but who knows. As far as them getting pregnant, and getting proof, if worse came to worse they could go to the emergency room and get some thing from there that states that they are infact pregant. That should be enough proof until they get the medicaid and get to see a dr on a regular basis

Here in California Medi-Cal system, you can get Emergency/Pregnancy Medi-Cal. They'll pay for anything that has to do with ER or Pregnancy. You can apply for it thru the ER Dept at any local hospital. Or to find out if your prego go to a Planned Parenthood.
***Remember: To be in Medicaid, you must be low income, not a homeowner, no assets on your name.***

Hopsitals all do pregnancy tests for free. That's why medicaid insists upon it, because one can be obtained without money, and it gets women's feet in the door at the hospital clinic.

In Florida, they can go to the local Health Department and have a pregnancy test done for free. Then the Health Department will provide them with a paper stating that they are indeed pregnant. I don't know about other states but that is how it is done here.

You can go to the free clinic at DSHS and they test you there, then they give you all the info you need to get into the program and the proof paper. They also connect you with any other people or programs that can help you. That's what I did anyway..........
