what are the major disasters that can occur in indian schools? what are its causes? how can you prevent them?

Remember the fire that broke out in the kitchen for the Mid-day Meals which rapidl spread throughout the 'building' brought down the thatched roof and consumed many small children. The teachers had saved their lives by running away. Instead of quietly filing thd tiny tots out of the building they had assured them that nothing much was wrong and they shoud stay put where they were. Again there was the terrorist attack on a school who had held the student hostages and the Rapid Action Force had mouted an attack. Why here even in Russia under similar circumstances a number of children lost their lives inthe melle that ensued. All this could have been avoided or at least the severity reduced if there has been proper training imparted to the students and regular drills held including mock attack. This traning would have come in handy in other plaes also.As happened in the July 2005 downpour in Mumbai hardl a life was lost because of instinctive cooperation between the citizens and the schools. It is high time such education is intouced inthe schools as it is quite likely that in the days to come there may be more such calamities.

dont go to school will prevent major disasters in Indian schools. My erogant stuck up American attitude thinks the major disasters that can occur in an Indian school are, 1. A stampeed of holly cattle, 2. A hungry tiger wanders into school to eat smart .3. Rain, melts the mud bricks and the roof falls in, 4. Flies, remember the picture of the big headed skinney kid with flies all over his face.5 then there is the red spot disease that afflicts the children of India and leaves the tell tale red dot on their head.

First of all you mean Indian as the country Inida or Indians as in the cowboy westerns? Yes there IS a difference in the two.

The best thing a student to do is remain calm no matter what. Look for a quick escape route know your escape route and think ahead.

as for preventing them very little you can do as for the student events like terrorism plane crashes, earthquakes etc noting you can do to prevent them. As for a nutcase with a gun best advice there is report it immediately.

okay before i say a damn think. im a gun toting lunitic by some standard but i was in boy scouts, and im in Rotc. if you are refering to what you can do in a situation like katrina , and you live up north like in New York or something, donate. not money but food. clothing , tents. that kind of stuff. Listen im from Baton Rouge. We wern't hit by Katrina but we got the huge influxs of people. we sat at home in a power less house watching what happen to New Orleans on a TV hooked up to Generator. There in truth wasn't a damn thing we could do. My Grandmother disapperaed for three days. She was in Slidell. a place hit by what some whould say was worse than New Orleans. Finally we found her through family contacts when the phones came back. what im tring to say is in a situation like that. just do your best to tide to your own. take care of your family. dont through yourself into harms way if you dont know the details. You have to be and adult. your have to think in terms of everybody, not just you. if someones hurt help them. if you dont know how to help find someone who can help. Dont be a hero, and do something you can never forgive yourself for. and finally dont think to large scale. Worry about you and your people. once their safe move on to the bigger stuff
