The GOP often runs on the "morality" ticket, and it often works for them. But, I don't see the morality?! I see tax breaks for the rich, war, judgement (sexuality/women's rights), corporate loopholes, etc. In my opinion that is the antithesis of morality. If political parties existed in Jesus' time, which party would he align himself with? Is the GOP the modern day Pharisees and Sadducees? Remember Jesus hung around prostitutes, lepers and the poor.... not the kings, princes and self-righteous zealots. What are your thoughts?

You wouldn't because you don't want to. I think morality ought to be just a "thing," not just a GOP thing.

Morality is no more a "GOP thing" than it is a "Democrat thing". Morality comes from each person on an individual basis. Not all of the GOP members are pedophiles yet Foley has been charged with it. Any party who tries to run on a "morality" theme I have to question. It just doesn't work that way.

Morality should be an EVERYONE thing.
Jesus would not have chosen a side, why would he need to, God his Father is pretty much the FINAL authority, wouldn't you agree?
You know, people downgrade Repubs about morality, when it should NOT be a party issue. Morality should be a part of EVERYONE's life, not a punching bag for people who want to inflame hatred and get more votes.
Do you believe that if the world tried to abide by morals in this day and age, then maybe there would not be as much murder, rape, abuse, molestation, suffering, neglect, violence......? I do. In fact, if you have really read the TEN Commandments, following those laws would erase most of the problems in our world.

Great question and lots of fantastic answers. I am surprised you arnt getting bashed more for your stance on the question but it shows that either they cannot come back with a definitive answer or they are still in church lol. They play to the "morality" ticket to appeal to the older generation who if you notice make up most of the republican party. Though like the post above they say one thing and live another and there are many proofs of this above. Though it should be a individual thing morality is all based on perception of what it is.

Jesus would probably be called a liberal sissy by these moral extremists if he were around today...I find it offensive that I can no longer call myself moral because of the risk of being confused for being prejudiced against gays and women, judgemental and stuck on one mindset without being able to deviate. My morals are to be fair, give situations the benefit of the doubt etc. In that sense, sometimes I think Ned Flanders (albeit way too religious) was actually a good Christian. You could see him thinking about his actions and whether he was being reasonable or too judgemental. I think Kurt Vonnegut said it best when he declared that his values are based on his wish to do the right thing because its the right thing, not because of fear of the afterlife.

Morality is to the GOP as honesty is to politicians.
