i put a newhard drive in my laptop and put xp on it,now ive lost the sound and dont know how to get it back! it had 98 win on the old hard drive and worked fine but hd was only 2 gig.please help me!

sheeet man what the hell. Ok bro this is the deal Dont uninstall a dam thing. Go to divice manager and check out the sound device and see if it looks good or not. Take your time on this one//if there is a bad thing then uninstall that one nothing more or less. Then boot off and turn the PC back on..

right click on "My Computer" and go to properties. In the window that pops up, click the hardware tab. Click Device manager.

Find sound devices on the list in the new window and right click, update drivers. Let windows automatically find the driver but choose for it NOT to search online for the driver. It should find the driver in your windows files on your computer.

put your old hard drive in take a back up of the drivers from it and install them on to the new hard drive or call your pc company ask if they have a back up audio driver cd

Go to Drivers.com give them the file name and download it!

Go to www.drivers.com notebooks then compaq and search 4 ur driver hope u will get it thanks...
