I'm a big fan of the Bic mechanical pencils. They come in lots of styles and colors, and are very affordable. As far as regular pencils, or any pencils, make sure you get #2 lead for tests and such (this is the standard, and most pencils are made with #2 lead, but every now and then they differ). There's also liquid graphite which is like ink in pens, and it even looks like a pen, but it's a pencil, so you've got plenty of options!

haha funny question. actually i like the papermate Xtend mechanical pencils. they have an awesome grip and write really well.
you can also look around officemax, officedepot, staples, walmart, target, kmart, and even the drugstore if you are looking for good deals.
also if you aren't very organized it might be easier to just get the regular ones that are presharpened. its the worst when you have a pencil that isn't sharpened (which is why i like mechanical better)

I dont know why i just dont like mechanical pencils. Even though you dont need to sharpen it, the point is just not pointy or sharp. This is weird but i feel a great satisfaction when I just start writing with a newly sharpened pencil. mechanical pencils' lead break easily and i constantly am needing to refill them
make sure regular pencils are #2, and I like black warrior pencils(ha ha i know funny name) and i like papermate pencils. I also like ticonderoga, and the pencils office depot and staples make. (they will say office deopt and staples on the pencilss, but they work really good) Get them from office depot, staples, wal mart, kmart, target....and whatever you do DONT buy "Eagle" pencils!!!!
