and the topic of the conversation was about you? (Long story short, people were gossiping about me.) At first I was actually embarrassed for the people that were doing the gossiping. The expressions on their faces was priceless! (LOL) After I walked out of the room, I was in fact, a little hurt and disappointed. What would you have done if it were you?

I'd tell them I feel like a celebrity, ask them if they'd like any autographs, then laugh to myself as I left the room.

Well about gossip, the best thing to do it not to focus on them. Don't mind gossips, you know the truth so walk you way with your heads up. They will surely stop it when they get tired. What you do not know won't hurt you, so never listen to what they gossip about you!

My personal response is to advise them that I appreciate being so popular, thank them for dissing me instead of some other poor sucker that they happen to know, and wish them a long healthy life so they can be the center of someone elses's gossip some day.

Yes! It is called, The third party. When two people are arguing and someone can't seem to mind their own buissness, then they jump right into, the conversation. I have done that plenty of times, only when I am angry.

I would have offered to set the record straight about what ever they were gossiping about.

I'd ask them what they were talking about exactly, and if they can't fess up, repeat some of what I heard. I'd tell them how rude it is that they can't talk about, obviously hurtful, things to my face, then they are not worth my time (or possibly my friendship). I don't bother with people like this, I choose my friends wisely now.
