I wonder if it is the money I am asking for. I am asking for 35000 for accountant or full charge bookkeeper position.

No one wants to hire me, is it the economy right now?

You shouldn't be talking salary at an interview. It makes potential employers believe you are only interested in a paycheck. Salary comes into play when there is an offer put on the table.

In my part of the country there are very few clerical openings. One company ran an ad for one day only, and had more than 100 applicants. It may be that there are other candidates that the hiring manager feels are more suited to the positions to which you have applied, or it may be that you have excluded yourself by asking for $35K when the position does not pay that much.

Keep your chin up and keep submitting your resume. The right position is out there.

You should ask what is the salary range for the job, instead of asking for a certain salary.

You didn't supply enough information. I have my own company and based on what you just said...doesn't explain anything. Maybe thats why you didn't get hired...You are not thourough and it shows.
