It's a waste of money. People will just cross the other two-thirds of the border, dig a tunnel, cut through an unguarded portion of the fence, go on "holiday" to the US and disappear, etc.

Yeah, a 700 mile fence should cover off a 2,000 mile border.
.....until someone in Mexico goes and buys himself an airplane.

I got a notion that the US is trying to compete with China for the biggest wall (only 3,300 miles to go). I don't really think it will do much good.....but there's an election coming up and they gotta show the folks that they're doing something.

As of Friday, it wasn't approved in the House, so the project is on hold.
My opinion is that they already have a fence there that is doing no good. Spending billions to build another one won't help. We need to enforce the rules we already have that these people are trespassing and are illegal once they cross the border. Arrest and deport them.

Typical Republican bandaid solution to hemoraging problems, another waste of tax payers $$. Getting all of Central and South America and the most of the Third World's birth rate of unneeded, unwanted and unsupportable babies under control would be a wiser long term solution.

THAT'S GREAT!!!!!!

Time to stop these inconsiderate people from taking what is not theirs.

And what a bunch of morons to say, a fence will not stop them.

Who do they think they are to say to any country, company, private property, that if you put up a security system, that they will just break in anyway.

Can you imagine putting up a fence around your house and setting up a security system, only to have the criminals in the bad neighborhood say, we don't care, we will come to your rich neighborhood and break in anyway.

Um, yeah...a big fence...that'll do it!

C'mon...a fence?

Mexicans aren't cattle...they are people. I have come to expect such stupid ideas from our government.

How are we to believe our government is protecting us from real terrorists, if they are going to keep illegal Mexcian immigrants out by using a fence?

Just to clarify, I am not against immigration. I just think that people should do it in somewhat of a legal manner and so help us keep track. I don't want to pay taxes either...but, I don't have much choice!

Not long enough....there are some gaps. It needs to be longer to keep out all the drug dealing gangbangers from the South. And, it should be electrified and surrounded by land mines as well. Anyone who makes it across is welcome! Its time we do something about the illegals before they take over. We can do without them.

It's just one more thing Mexicans have to get over to get into the United States. It will do little to stop the illegal tide.
