Do you agree with my Thankyou to American white people?
I want to thankyou. Because I think white people and their forefathers are the best people on the planet... They are the best because they wrote a declaration that gave all people rights and the freedom to come to America and receive freedom... Basically white Americans could have shut this country down to everyone except white people, but Instead they let all races in and help them achieve success. What other race wrote something like this? Did the Asians? Did the ******? Only whites were generous with the salad bowl lifestyle

Response #1... I agree with you, but sometimes you need to forgive and forget.. Talking about all the bad stuff does nothing to bring Americans together and it does nothing but create problems and trouble...

And, if the native Americans had stepped foot first on Europe they would have done the same thing to us white people... Humans no matter what race, are cunning and manipulative... Don't be naive!

Why do you feel the need to be so completely racist? Have you even bothered to study American History? If not, go do some research and then re-write your question/statement.
Yes, America is the land of great opportunities, but even as early as 50 years ago, legalized immigrants and their families were still delegated to second class citizens regardless of their race. Children were forced to conform (have American sounding names and only speak English for example) and encouraged to turn their backs on their heritage.
Nobody HELPED them to achieve success except for their own kind. Neighborhoods became "Chinatown", "Little Italy", etc. and the local business owners relied on their neighbors to help keep them in business since very rarely did anyone from outside of these neighborhoods do business with the "foreign" business owners.
Even now, legalized immigrants are having problems "fitting in". Some of it stems from the stigma they must carry due to their religion, heritage and the general distrust that Americans have adopted due to 9/11 and some of it is a hold over from years gone by. I'm not saying that everyone that comes here wants to further perpetuate the war, but people have become leery towards anyone with any noticeable differences (clothes, accents, etc.).
You can thank our founding fathers for exploiting our differences instead of embracing them . . . just ask the Native Americans.

You are right. Part of the reason that we get ourselves in trouble around the world, as a nation, is that we want to share what we have with others. And just an FYI - why do people insist that the native americans were living in some kind of utopia until we got here?? They had disease, and guess what?? they fought wars, between tribes, constantly! You're also right about the fact that had the native americans shown up in Europe, they would have acted in much the same way. People have been conquering other people since the beginning of time - we are the only ones who seem to feel the need to apologize for it! I have news for you - most of Europe was conquered by the romans, who were then conquered by various barbarian tribes, who then began conquering each other. And although the attitudes of people towards other groups may be slow to change, LEGALLY, under the constitution, everyone who is here legally has equal rights, and even people who arent here legally have constitutional rights. For example, how many children are going to go to school tomorrow, and receive the same education as everyone else, and are NOT here legally? The answer? any of them who show up - did you know it is actually ILLEGAL for a school to ask a parent for proof of immigration status, or for any other info that would prove they werent here legally, such as their child's social security number. God Bless America, and those who created a country of equal opportunities!

Hon, you are entitled to your own opinion and I applaud you for standing up for what you believe in, even if I do disagree wholeheartedly with everything you say. However, as an exercise in trying to understand the responses you get on here, please try to study the history of human society outside of the united states. The US is only 250-odd years old, very young and simply a speck on the face of human history. Your opinion might be interesting within your small, ethnocentric, egocentric community, but the other 6 billion people currently on the planet and the 10 billion that have come before us and have fought and died for their beliefs and for democracy, peoples of all colours, races, religions and creeds, will have a vastly different view and knowledge of human history to yourself. The world does not revolve around America.

I would say no thank you to the white people from Europe who invaded the Americas, murdered, raped and took as slaves thousands of peaceful natives, and imposed the European way of life across continents that had been occupied by tribes who already had their own well established cultures. Native Americans were largely peaceful, shared their posessions and lived in non-patriarchal societies. In the name of progress these were replaced with the violent, unequal societies we live in today.
---------------------------
Why do you want to thank the forefathers for what you perceive as the good stuff but "forgive and forget" the bad stuff? And why are you still maintaining it is only white people who have welcomed other races into America, when in fact it is modern white folk who introduced the whole immigration regime - when the Native Americans lived there, they let anyone into the country, and let anyone take the natural resources they could find.
Moreover, they wouldn't have done the same to Europeans as Europeans did to them, because they didn't have the same notion of property nor the obsession with gold, so there is no reason why they would have had the same imperialist instincts.

seriously, the guy who answered first was right. native Americans were in this country first. we killed them and took it from them. how is that fair? even if we did turn it into something you're enjoying today, for that mater, the native American people didn't care if you came and built your house here, it didn't matter what color you were, as long as you didn't try to make them live in a house. but our forefathers did not see it that way.
