In cleaning out our garage, we found a bunch of old paint, strippers (paint, not dancers), brake fluid, etc. Any thoughts of where I can take this and dump it off to have it properly disposed of?

contact your local dump, they will tell you where and how to get rid of it safely. If you cant find their number, contact the local town council (or similar) they will have a list of places you can dispose of such things safely

I started my search for information by visiting San Jose's government website at:

http://www.sanjoseca.gov/index.asp

After clicking through "departments", "garbage collection", and "residential", I came across this page:

http://www.recycleplus.org/universal-waste.htm

Common household hazardous waste is identified and the method of disposal is discussed.

Good luck with your waste problem.
