My system stalls on IDE drive detection?

here's the thing, I have an 2 IDE DVD drives and one SATA Hard drive. frequently my system stalls while detecting the IDE drives. also, why is my hard drive listed as a channel 1 ide master? its not ide, its sata.

you might have a failing drive.

check cabling

remove drives one at a time to see which one it is.

get you data off the bad one asap

Put one on slave , one on master. You might have both on the same setting. You can change them on the back of each drive.
