If this person is your best mate how could you even ask that question? My advice is if they're really your best mate and you want to keep it that way don't do it.

Coveting a friend's girl is actually normal, and more prominent than people say. Some simply do not want to admit it.
But if your friendship is a close one, I wouldn't get anywhere close to this girl. Even if they've broken up.
There's a "Code of Man" out there, and in it states that you should not do whatyou want to do with there girlfriend. Especially their ex-girlfriend...
Let it go.....

Decide whether this girl is worth your friendship with your bestfriend. If it is go for it (You won't have a bestfriend but you'll have a girl), if its not leave it the hell alone (You'll get over the girl becuase you'll go find a better one).
Now if you do something behind your friends back with this girl, then respect him enuff to tell him and then leave him alone.
CAUSE AND EFFECT!

yep, let it go. There will be other girls, and your best mate should be able to trust you.
Speaking as a female, i wouldnt respect a boy who would try and get his best mates girl.

You are allowed to ‘like’ your best mate’s girl, but make sure you pay him the courtesy and respect that a best mate deserves.
In other words, don’t try to crack on to his girl !!!

if i were you, i would just not think about it. he is your best mate, and if you get into this, you might lose him forever. and why lose him over a girl you might lose over time anyways.
but if you think this is real, and you cant stop thinking about. wait until it is over with them, and you friend doesnt even care about her anymore. then will be your chance to score, and you can keep your friend too.
