To meet people your options are a little limited but you can be creative. If you enjoy reading, maybe you can meet someone at a book store or a library. Church, bars, and online seem to be the only ones I can think of where there would be a larger group of people. After you meet someone I think putt putt would be fun, or bowling or even a board game at home. Sorry I don't have more to pick from.

I have neen alcholhol free for many years. Meeting sober people is hard, unless you enjoy going to AA meetings. I dont suggest going unless you need em, but those folks do (in my area anyway) put on some dances, dinners and things like that..you can call the local AA chapter in your town and see.
Lots of churches (unitarian) have singles nights
See if thre are any clubs that do things you like..I joined a ski club and a boat club
Every one in the country is playing poker these days--men and women alike. Find a game, or start one. Poker is easy to learn

Outdoors is a healthy, fun and wholesome way of meeting someone. You can enlist to a local mountaineering club, a swim club, a cycling club, so the problem will only be which one you are into? Chances are you`ll meet someone with the same interests as you have and you dont have to be intoxicated with alcohol to do so...

I am not an alcoholic, but I can have all the fun of the world, is because I am not shy, my opinion is that people whom think they have to have some drinks to have fun is because they are shy and suffer from complex of inferiority, and they could only get loose with the booze, or drugs for that matter.
There are the ones that drink but don't get drunk, if you are one of those, hang round people like that.
Drugs fry your brains.
