I'm constantly amazed by the nearly total lack of knowledge available from most of the people answering maintaince and repair questions in this forum. Any plumber will tell you that there is very little, if any, adjustment in the amount of water remaining in the bowl of your commode once it is filled. This is because of the height of the trap system that is usually readily visible at the rear of the bowl on the side. Most all new toilets show the path of the trap system and you can guage by the height of the trap whether the water remaining in the bowl after flushing and refilling is at it's maximum or not. If you've recently changed toilets or just moved into a new apt. or home, you may be experiencing the first exposure to a new 1.6 gal./flush unit. This is a wonderful new water saving device mandated from our government to save water by not supplying enough to actually FLUSH a load down the drain. Most of them don't refill enough water back into the bowl because the traps have also been lowered. When more water runs back into the bowl than the trap can hold, the water simply runs out the back over the top of the trap and into the drain. I've installed many of them and so far I can't recall any of the new owners being happy with the results.

evidently you don't have enough water in the holding bowl itself. When yo flush you are supposed ot release enough water to clean the bowl, and replace the water you released. So you don't have enough flushing water.
Check the back holding bowl with the top off check to see if it holds plenty of wate rot the desired water line marked there. Flush several times to see if it is releasing all of the water it holds.
The float has a way to lower or raise the wate rlevel inthe holding bowl which determeins how much you get into the toilet bowl,
YOu mayu have to raise the back holding level . or it may be your float devise is defective(water logged) and need sreplacing. you can buy a replacement for about 5 to 10 bucks.

OK, now for the right answer:

In the tank is your float valve.
Attatched to the valve is a small hose that has water squirting out of it.
That little hose needs to be swirting into the tube that the valve is mounted next to.

That is what refills the bowl after you flush.

Okay, since the men in the family don't know how to fix anything, Grandma will have to tell you.

Take the lid off the back of the toilet. In there will be a lever-type apparatus that you can raise or lower, to raise or lower the water level in the bowl. That's it! Easy as pie!! Happy _________!

shoot all you need is a new float for the back of the tank...dont go buyin a new toilet...lol...that'll cost ya...just get a float and have someone put it in for ya....and if that dont work and you dont have the cash to buy you a new toilet....i have tried pouring water directly into the toilet bowl and that makes it flush better.....do that until you can get it fixed.

Push part way on the flush lever without actually flushing. That should add to the water level in the bowl.

Sorry bud, no adjustment there. But you can get a new toilet for around $60 and spend 1/2 and hour to install it.

Check the obvious first: is the water line to the toilet open? turn it counterclockwise to open. Check the float inside the tank to make sure it is not stuck and can move freely.
Happy crapping!.............G

Adjust the float level in the tank, some you bend the rod some you adjust with a screw driver.
