Check the county property records for the county the house is in. If you have the address, you can find out its value.

They are usually on-line now-a-days. Check the county government web site under the tax roll information.

Hey, You do a little detective work, that is. At your local Court House, Real Estate division, there are computers that you can look up home values, when the property was purchased, and how the purchase price. The clerks are usually very helpful and will help you research.

Check the local newspaper if it is a recent transaction. Old liens are recorded in the property valuation office.

That's tricky. In Iowa, you just went to the assessor's office. Here in CA, you have to have the owner's permission for them to look it up. It just depends on where you are.

Ooh, and if you have a realtor friend, have them do it. They can get through the loopholes better. Good luck!
