As giraffes are rarely heard, many people think they are mute. They are generally quiet, but will vocalize by emitting moans, hisses, snores, hisses, coughs, grunts, moos, snorts, bleats (similar to that of a young calf or sheep), low notes, low, fluttering sounds or flute-like sounds or whistles. They may make loud grunts, roars or snort when they feel alarmed or threatened. Courting males may let out a loud cough. Females may whistle to call their young or bellow when seeking lost calves. Calves can bleat and make mewing calls. Giraffes also produce infrasounds. Most of the time, the only noise made by giraffes is the gentle clicking of their hooves as they lift their feet clear of the ground.
But why is this posted in philosophy?

I was looking at one of those giraffe things in a zoo one day, my wife had just informed me that they didn't make any noise at all , I thanked her profusely for this completely useless bit of information !!
The giraffe then emitted a very large and very noisey far*!
My wife was proved wrong!
The sound was something like an underwater fffrrrrttt!!
Hope this helps with your research??

It makes a noise similar to that of goose. I think this is because of the accoustically simmilar shape of the neck. Girraffe a slightly more mellow resonance compared to geese, this is due to a lack of the bill.

I guess you could call it a purrrrr. I sounds like a cat purring but louder and there is a longer space inbetween each " Purrrrrrrr." I'm not trying to be funny, it really does sound like this.
