Hi Jake,
Firstly, be very selective about some of the advice that people write on here. Most are genuinely being honest and helpful, but others can be misinformed and very UN helpful.
Any lump should be looked at by a doctor earlier rather than later. Although there are all those nasty conditions like cancer that we are all aware of, there are also tons of other not-so-scary conditions that can be easily managed and treated with a quick visit to your doctor. Hope this helps.

It may not be anything serious may be a muscular growth due to accumulation of fat or for any other reason. Further you have not mentioned anything about any pain in that area. It can be removed by a minor surgical procedure.

At the same time we should not take it lightly and it is better to have a biopsy done from the removed lump to ensure it is not cancer. Because the breast is composed of identical tissues in males and females, breast cancer can also occur in males, but here the incidence is very low.

Men do get breast cancer, just like women - though it isn't talked about as much. However, at 16 it would be highly unlikely that you have breast cancer.

It is most likely a fatty deposit or cyst, which is benign. However, whenever you find an unexplained lump, it is best to have it examined by a doctor just to be sure there is nothing serious wrong.

Hello, I too have had the same thing , but mine was on my rib area. My doctor said it is a "Cyst"

Definition:
A cyst is a closed pocket or pouch of tissue. It can be filled with air, fluid, pus, or other material.

A cyst is a closed sac- or bladder-like structure that is not a normal part of the tissue where it is found. Cysts are common and can occur anywhere in the body in persons of any age. Cysts usually contain a gaseous, liquid, or semisolid substance. Cysts vary in size; they may be detectable only under a microscope or they can grow so large that they displace normal organs and tissues. The outer wall of a cyst is called the capsule.
Sometimes you can feel a cyst yourself when you feel an abnormal "lump". For example, cysts of the skin or tissues beneath the skin are usually noticeable. Cysts in the mammary glands (breasts) also may be palpable (meaning that you can feel them when you examine the area with your fingers). Cysts of internal organs such as the kidneys or liver may not produce any symptoms or may not be detected by the affected individual. These cysts often are first discovered by imaging studies (x-ray, ultrasound, computerized tomography or CAT Scan, and magnetic resonance imaging or MRI).

The majority of cysts are benign, but some may produce symptoms due to their size and/or location. Rarely, cysts can be associated with malignant tumors (cancers) or serious infections. If you're concerned about any abnormal swelling or "lump," talk to your doctor. He or she can recommend appropriate diagnostic tests to determine the cause of the cyst.

There are several possibilites such as a cyst, an enlarged lymph node, blocked sebaceous gland, or something serious like breast cancer or hodgkins lymphoma. Men can get breast cancer also. My father-in-law died from breast cancer and had a lump next to a nipple for a long time that he ignored. Considering your age, breast cancer is not very likely and it is probably nothing but Hodgkins is a very serious cancer and if caught early it can have a good prognosis so get this lump checked out just to be safe.

See a doctor IMMEDIATELY! Men can get breast cancer. My brother had it, completely recovered after surgery. I hope it is only a harmless lump.
