Its an open fact but i probably need to explain you about it...!!

Indian Crowds--never accept anything happening to their favourite heros. Nor to heroins. And none cares to watch movies with innovation/creativity/art/story.
Most (atleast 90%) of the film makers make films as per viewers perspective in India. Because they need business from them...they want platinum discs to be celebrated...100 days - 175 days - 250 days/ if allowed 500 days...

What film makers want is money at the moment....and what viewers want is teenage love/indecent comedy/extreme tragedy/dances/fights/item songs/heavy vilan/happy ending.

This never changes and never dream of Indian film winning an Oscar...One movie(lagaan) was nominated. feel satisfied with it.

Cheers..!!

Oscars are awards decided by an american jury.. who could never understand our culture enough to ever give us an oscar..
Plus.. The oscar is not the only thing in the world
Hollywood may not have found a tale of a poor blind girl growing up to be a successful humanbeing a touching tale.. but to those who can relate or even sympathize... black was a great film.
If the oscars dont recognize good films...who cares... soon the world will!!

Indian movies do not recieve oscars because they are geared for indian audiences. While the judges for the oscars are not indians at all. I agree we have been nominated in the international category many times but it is easier for the judges to understand and relate to the movies that are of European descent rather the indian movies. I disagree that indian movies have terrible acting or story plots. Granted some of the do, but some dare to go where even most Hollywood movies can not, i.e. Gajagamini and other art films.

Because most Indian movies have real bad acting and quite bad scripts. Also they just care about looks, seen the female actresses? I have never seen so many unreal women in one movie before. Everyone wears tight dresses and look like bimbos from start to end. There is no quality there. They need to act better.

I also hate the way they talk Indian, and suddenly in the middle of sentences they start to speak English. That's dumb...

Besides. Oscar movies stink too.

It's coming - "Bollywood" stars will be making movies in Hollywood on a regular basis in the next 5-10 years, and at least out of political correctness (if nothing else), Oscar voters will pick one as a winner.

Of course, if that means getting to see more of Aishwarya Rai, I'm all for it! ; )

Cuz most of them are based on movies already made in hollywood or so. And which self respecting foreigner would want to watch a movie that has 5 songs and 5 fight scenes with no proper storyline except love???

Actually speaking some dumb people may be saying that our movie quality is not true but the problem (or not problem for us) is there is too much of masala in our movie while foriegn movies are very bland.

ill give u the equation,

desi masala + partiallity + song + drama = no oscar!!!!!!!!!!

I think it's all cultural. The Oscars come from North America so our likes/dislikes are different from anywhere else.
