There are so many places to see and visit in London that too list them all would take too long, for you to see them all you will need longer than a day. Whatever suggestions you get the chances are you will not visit them all anyway.

My advice is first visit the place you really want to see then when you come out, check what is near, this should make the best of your time. Also pick places that are easily accessible ie near a tube station. As for where to go here are some suggestions.

Tower of London
Harrods (get a carrier bag)
Buck. Palace.
Museums, Science, V & A, Natural History, many more
London Eye
Piccadilly Circus
Trafalgar Square
Walk down the Embankment

Whatever you decide Enjoy yourself!

The Tower Of London can take most of your day but is so very impressive! A must see!
Westminster Abbey has just about every famous British person you have every heard of in there. Amazing! I stood on Charles Dickens crypt for about 10 minutes! ( did not improve my writing skills however!)
Then you have the British Museum. You can tour part of Buckingham Palace. There is a great 'haunted' tour and also one of all the Jack the Ripper 'sites' if you are into that. Madame Trousseau's Wax museum is also fun. Maybe you just want to see the trendy places, the fashion district. But seek out food for more foreign places ( Italian, Indian, French)
So many places! If you have time to go outside of London and into the countryside. See Stonehenge and Bath. But that's a day trip. Enjoy! The Brits are quite lovely people......

A couple of definite must-not-sees first: Buckingham Palace and Madame Tussauds. Both rubbish. I never understand why so many tourists go there.

You should definitely walk along the South Bank taking in the views of the Houses of Parliament, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge etc. etc. You can drop in to the Tate Modern on the way, too.

National Gallery, British Museum and Hampstead Heath (with a great view of London from Parliament hill) are all great and free. They are also all tiring to walk around, so I wouldn't try them all!

Have fun!

There are many good places to visit but since you will only be there a short time I recommend the major attractions like the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Madamme Tussuad's or maybe a boat trip on the river Thames- this will give you a chance to see all the sites on London.

Any of the art galleries, the tate modern, tate britain, national, etc are free. A trip along the river is a must, you can go from tate modern to tate britain by river bus. Or you could combine it with a trip on the london eye, used to be about £20 for the eye and a river tour. Trafalgar square, covent garden all good places to visit. You can get a tourist bus but they are expensive and if you get yourself a street map you can either walk, or jump on and off the tube. Have fun - i.ve lived here all my life and still get abuzz from walking around town.

on Sunday the best place to go is the speakers corner in Hyde park ,really, i spent like 3 hours there the park is really nice to. also the London eye is great and it doesn't take up a lot of time (standing in line, getting a capsule and finishing the flight is no more then an hour even less around 13:00) before that you can go to see the changing of the guards at Buckingham palace (its at 11:30 but you have to get there earlier to get good places near the gate its about an hour long), also covent garden is great lots of funny street shows you can even walk there from Buckingham palace (about 20-30 mins) through regents park and Trafalgar square.

If it is not raining, then go to the Parliament buildings, walk across the bridge to the south side of the river. Walk east towards Tower bridge. Stop in at the Tate Modern (just fo the building) along the walk. Then when you get to the Tower Bridge walk across the bridge and visit the Tower of London.

I like Camden for its market and mayhem, but it doesn't sound like you have much time. Stay central

Hi we went to Convent Garden, there was lots of things to see there and if you are a shopaholic like me Regent Street. But you also have the normal attractions, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London. We also went on the London Eye, I thoroughly recommend that.
