Dear Sophie, I am a former music student among other studies, Mozarts parents were obviously aware of his talent at a very young age, that is usually the way, but what happened to the rest of the world ? Mozart and his work is celebrated now much much more than when he was alive! more so with his other compositions being recently discovered.

His herritage is so great, that only few can undrestand these days. His musical intelligence is so great.. I consider him one of the 10 best musicians ever borned on this planet. It's a petty that he took his fame after his death.

I read thru Wikipedia and I don't see anywhere where it said "they didn't realize his musical genius until he was dead".

They opened up Mozarts tomb a few weeks ago and found him there scribbling on music manuscripts and tearing others up - he was still decomposing...............
