Yes. You can drink rain water. It may not be very good for you because there may be bugs(my friend's sister swallowed a spider drinking rain water) and because of the pollution in the air the world has right now, there may be harmful chemicals in the water. It's the safest to drink bottled water or tap water because they have been filtered through taking out all the nasty stuff that you wouldn't want to drink.

Perhaps if you can harvest the rain...
Rainwater harvesting is the collection and storage of rain from roofs or from a surface catchment for future use. The water is generally stored in rainwater tanks or directed into mechanisms which recharge ground water. This is appropriate in many parts of the world, such as western Britain, China, Brazil, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Germany and India, where there is enough rain for collection and conventional water resources either do not exist or are at risk of being over-used to supply a large population. Rainwater harvesting can provide lifeline water for human consumption, reduce water bills and the need to build reservoirs which may require the use of valuable land.
Traditionally, rainwater harvesting has been practised in arid and semi-arid areas, and has provided drinking water, domestic water, water for livestock, water for small irrigation and a way to replenish ground water levels. This method may have been used extensively by the Indus Valley Civilization.

You can but I wouldn't. The purpose of rain is to wash the impurities and pollution from the air. Which means rain and snow has picked up all these impurities by the time it hits the ground. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't wash my hair with it either.

well the thing is that rain water isnt very safe to drink im sure, however if you were in desperate need of water i would consider drinking it or atleast drinking a small amout just to hydrate my body, i would recommend filtering it any way possible i.e. boiling it, filter thru some sort of material, or investing in some sort of filter tab, or system, good luck

unless you filter it very well. What falls from the sky isnt usually the cleanest thing around, There are countless bacteria, pollutants (carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, acid, toxins, insects). If you are desperate to drink rainwater because there is no water anywhere else, I think the water in the country side is cleaner as there are less pollutants in the air.

The pH of rain water is 5.6 so it's slightly acidic, however, what the heck you'll need to drink a lot of it to actually feel any negative effects.

Only if you are desperate.
But if you are not, then don't.
If you live real close to many factories then by all means do not even go outside when it rains.
The more pollution that goes into the sky the more acid your rain will be.
