I give them as often as possible, I only find it unfair that I have but two thumbs...

Yes, I think the thumbs up is a nice way to compliment someone for a good answer or good effort, especially if they didnt win "Best answer" but you think they deserve a pat on the back....
I am a little bemused by the amount of negative vote "thumbs down" I find on some answers (and even questions) that simply dont make any sense to me.... Appropriate, sensible, good questions, and the people making good contributions and putting in the effort to answer, and some "police" person gets their rocks off running around forums just slathering thumb down votes all over the place on all the answers to a question .... shouldnt you have to give a REASON for doing something nasty like that to people who are trying to contribute in the forums like this one...?

I've only asked one question, so I did give a thumbs-up. I'm pretty free with the thumb-giving around here. More so than the actual voting for best answers.

And I give a thumbs-up on every singe question I answer.
Won't answer the sick or vulgar or idiotic stuff.
