that's a common problem. well how bout you starts talking to him about other guys and ask for advice on how to act on them? it will upset him but he will know he's just a friend

Next time he flirts with you just tell him how you seen this guy the other day and you thought he was really hot.
Tell him that you are thinking of asking him out.
It will show him that you don't think of him in that way.
It will also show him that you appreciate him as a friend.

Maybe you can casually mentiona a crush you have on someone else. It doesnt have to be true, but it will let him know that hes not the one you are interested in.
