I was planning to go to Houston, Texas and will be going regardless of the above, but I wondered what others had heard?

I live in Phoenix, not Houston.

But I believe that one of the problems for terrorists, targeting cities in the West & South West is their sprawl. There's no real population concentration to target. Aside from perhaps the Las Vegas strip, where else are there guaranteed to be thousands of people in a small area - that will be vunerable to attack ?

Attacking Southern Manhattan was a can't miss proposition. There are pleaces in the Phoenix metro area where you could crash a commercial plane & not kill a single person.

But I grew up in England, with the constant threat from the IRA. I worked in the city of Leicester. One day, a car bomb blew up the army recruitment office in Leicester - 20 minutes after I'd walked past it, on my way to work. I did NOT change my route to work.

Terrorists - F*K 'EM, is my motto. Do NOT let them change your life.

I haven't heard this, but I think it is possible although unlikely. First off, even if the government is aware of a direct attack plan, they are not just going to release the details before the plan is foiled. If the radio station in question didn't get the information from the government then their source is in question. As to an actual attack on Houston. The only purpose for attacking a city in Texas would be to disrupt oil supplies and Houston would not be the logical choice. It would make more sense to attack Beaumont or Port Aransas where there are more refineries. Even if you are targeting shipping and the channel these cities would still make more sense strategically. Houston does have a lot of people, but cities like LA, New York, or Chicago would have more shock value. I just personally think that Houston is an unlikely target unless the attack is in combination with other high value targets.

I think the score will be Houston: 1, al-Qeda: nothing and it will end in sudden death for the terrorists.

Houston is one of many cities that has been targeted. I think people should all start running in the streets and screaming. Or perhaps hurry up and convert to Islam to avoid an attack. Or be vigilant and let the Government do what its needs to do in order to protect you.

If they have a contact then perhaps they should ask him who and when.
This is the usual load of alarmist drivel. Nobody except Al Qeda know!

I would take it somewhat seriously, because look what happened we didn't. Plus It may or may not be Houston that could be a rouse

It sounds to me like that they just pull random locations out of their hat and announce "terror alerts" that never come to anything, in order to remind us the War On Terror™ is continuing.

Much like the never-ending procession of Al Queda #2s that are arrested or killed every time a good news story is needed.
