A good pair of trainers and dont dare run too much at the start or you'll have a cramp in your leg for days. Increase the distance gradually.

I agree, decent trainers, especially if you're running on hard pavements, are a must. They have to absorb the vibration of your feet hitting the ground, otherwise you could do yourself a mischief.
Oh, and some decent tunes on the MP3 player! Personal cd players are crap for running.

First, get some decent running/training shoes. Visit your local Finishline and ask the salespeople for their input. DO NOT go by color/looks...that's the worst decision you could make. Go by how it FEELS! Start slowly, don't sprint. It's better to go further at a slower pace than to sprint a short distance. Good luck ! ;)

first get some good suportive shoes and start by just jogging 2 laps around then track then stride a 100, walk a 100, stride a 100 ect. also think positive and listen to mp3 player while you running....just make sure it doesnt get in you way. concentrate on your form, you have to run right or else you can hurt your self and create bad habits. have fun! :)

eat lots of fruits...and when you run your hands go from your "pockets" to your ears...
and make sure you pick up your knees. Not alot of people run properly and it makes me sick.
