I just had hip surgery. For a while I could not find any comfortable position.
At first I slept on a recliner. Later I could sleep on the good side with a pillow between my legs.
You may want to see a good chiropractor or therapist for exercises to aid healing.

Try laying on your back with a couple of pillows under your legs, from the knees down. This will relief some tension on your back and hips. Good Luck.

use extra pillows as bolsters to elevate your body
also try sleeping in a comfy recliner chair
use heating pads, drink a glass of warm milk and take a warm bath before bedtime
DO NOT USE PILLS, OVER THE COUNTER"SLEEP AIDES"
