How do you diconnect the cylinder changeing part to only run on 8 cylinders all the time?

It's a coupe deville and yes it's still running. great car. But how do you shut it down and keep it 8 cylinders only? I've read that it was done by owners and dealers.

Had one of those several years ago. If you disconnect the leads on the valve covers, you will have 8 cyls running and no cruise control. Don't ask me why it is that way, it just is. Cadillac made the 8-6-4 in the 1981 models only, then dropped it like a bad habit. I got rid of mine as soon as I could.

There is a way you use the A/C controls to enter diagnostic and set the control for eight cyl all the time. This will only work if there is enough oil pressure to work the lifters and electronic controls to the valve covers all are in order. Are there any of those still running? Haven't seen a Seville 8,6,4, in years

its been long time but i think you can achieve this by installing a regular chevy hei distributor.
