I have my dad's dresser who passed away 7 years ago, the other day my boyfriend pulled the front of the drawer off, it was put together using the "dove tail" cut, or tounge and grove cut, I need to know the best way to put the front back on. I dont want to get rid of the dresser due to it being my dad's and I don't have much left of him. How can I put it together so it has a strong bond again?

If it is dove tail, that means only that the glue has failed. It is a fact that all glues eventually fail.

push the dove tails back together to see if they fit. If they do, remove that, do a light sanding job on the joints, both sides, and apply a carpenters glue to both sides, being a bit stingy with it, you don't want runs, put it back together making sure it is square, take a strap, or bungee cords, to hold it in place and let the glue dry over night. The next morning, eat your breakfast, have a cup of coffee, and put the drawer back in the dresser.

some drawers are a box with a front attached. Others are a box only. look at the good drawer and see how it was together. Was it just the handle that fell off? Is the screw inside the drawer? did the wood crack? The wood you might be able t o glue back together with carpenters glue or wood glue. It dries real hard. Other option would be screws from the back side of the face.

There are some very good products on the market. One of them is called 'No more nails' which is a very strong wood adhesive. Provided there is no damage to the dovetail detail (no, it's not tongue and groove, that's used for floor boards) you should be able to glue the front to the sides, but get yourself a pair of long clamps to help keep the pieces together while the adhesive is curing. Most DIY stores will help you out.
