No, it doesn't. This is an option that is included in various e-mailservers, but Hotmail hasn't implemented this. Nor has Yahoo, or any of the other providers, since this causes an extra load on the servers.

It does show whether or not it has been opened but it can also be reclosed so noone knows it was opened by clicking the "mark as unread" button
