Pros - Aren't really any except the United States now realizes how important it is to evacuate people when there are hurricane or tropical storm watches...and we realize that some people in the office (cough *Bush* cough) are idiots and do not know how to handle mass destruction like that of Hurrican Katrina
Cons- Mass destruction, thousands upon thousands of people killed, homeless survivors without jobs or food (you kinda get the picture)
Hope this helps! ;o)

Let's see. I live in Long Beach, Mississippi.
The pros...well it would be rather hard to call them pros. I guess you could say that the storm brought people together in time of need. Lots of wonderful people from across the US came to our aid and helped us. We also are able to build back a bigger and better and hopefully stronger MS Gulf Coast.
The cons would be mainly the deaths and destruction. However, for many of us, we were without jobs for A VERY LONG TIME..about a year. The casinos are opening and some have opened. New buildings are going up daily. I think a lot of places are waiting to rebuild due to new codes as far as how high above ground they need to build. I'd also say that some cons were the lack of communication (cell phones, etc.) and gas. I saw gas lines that were TWO MILES long! It also sucked having to be inside my house at 6pm due to mandatory curfews. But I understand, because of the looting. That was definitely not as bad in MS as in Lousiana. But Louisiana is a WHOOOOOOOOOOOLE DIFFERENT STORY!

Not quite sure what this question is actually all about. I live in Katrina country and so far I see absolutely no pro anything about it. It was a devasting, horrible event that caused death and destruction. We are still dealing with the mess here. Everyday there is a reminder of what this storm did to us. If I could think of any pro it would have to be that our government learned a lesson in how to react to a monumental event such as Katrina..it's response time, planning, etc.

Cons - Massive death and destruction. Homelessness. Devastation. Loss of jobs and income. Loss of property. Massive relocation which leads to loss in population.
Pros (not many) - Awareness and unity. Better construction of levees. Better evacuation procedures. Reconstruction and clean up which leads to more jobs.
I hope this helps you.
