I think that is my favorite answer. Especially for some of the questions that people ask in here. They could have just googled it in less time it took to type the question and wait for an answer.

No, but if you Google it for them, then the answer is acceptable.

I don't think so.
When people post questions here, they may well have *tried* a conventional search-engine approach.
Depending on how skilled/experienced they are with computers in general, and search engines in particular, they may not know how to use one at all. Or they may not (yet) know enough to use one *well*. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the number of "hits" if you don't know how to construct your search terms to limit them.
Sometimes people don't want to know *all* the sites that have the information they want--just the *best*. Good answers have the advantage of being filtered through other people's experience and minds, giving us quick access to the higher-quality information.
It's the difference between looking for a plumber in the phone book and asking a friend or neighbour to recommend a good plumber who doesn't charge an arm and a leg--and maybe is cute as a bonus. :-D
Even if I think a questioner could have found the answer by using a search engine, I try to "model" in my answer *how* and *where* to go about searching for information like that. That way I haven't just given the questioner a fish--I've shown him or her a bit about how to fish.

If something is ease to find on-line, I'll go find it (if I'm in the mood) and post the link. I'll also add in something like, "if you had done a quick search yourself, you could have found this rather easily".
If I can't find something myself, or just don't feel like it, I'll give them some possible keywords to search for just to try to be helpful.
