Try Jeye's pine disinfectant. It may have the same effect as acid by eating into the wood. Try to make it smaller first to quicken the process. Failing that, try the links below.

There isn't anything magical you can rub on it, it just takes a bit of time. If you're in a hurry, and it's fairly substantial, check in your local paper or yellow pages for tree services, you need someone with a stump grinder (or maybe hire one yourself). If the stump is fairly small, say only a few inches across, you might hack it out with a pickaxe. The slow method is to cut it off at ground level (easiest to do this with a chainsaw) so it's not in the way, criss-cross it with deep cuts (also easiest with a chainsaw) to help penetration of water, if it isn't definitely dead treat it with stump killer (such as SBK), and wait for nature to take its course, which could take a number of years. You'll eventually see mushrooms coming up as the fungi do their work. Try again with the pickaxe in 3-4 years time.

I was told to pour some salt on the stump. Rock salt like you use to melt the ice from sidewalks? You may want to try cutting some criss cross marks into the stump so the salt can get in there quicker. Just pour a big ol' bag on the stump. Good luck to you!
