I've heard this story over and over again. The TV licencing people just don't believe that anyone can live without a Television. I've long believed the licence to be outdated anyway - it mostly goes to the BBC whos channels I hardly ever watch 'cos they're mostly rubbish. We should scrap the licence - then you won't be harassed anymore and the rest of us won't pay a broadcasting company hundreds of pounds for them to produce programmes we don't want to watch.

At some time you must have bought a TV - dealers are required to register your purchase.

They can also 'track' TV signals in your house, even to a specific room.
They also have the facility to see if a TV has been 'on' within the last few hours.

You need to write to them and explain - and NO, it is NOT harassment.
If they think you are breaking the law by not having a licence, the police can be brought in.

I have had this problem at work: it was resolved by writing to both the Chief Executive of the TV Licensing Agency (the address is on those reminder letters you get), and the Minister for Broadcasting at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, 2-4 Cockspur Street, London.

Send them all back in an envelope and tell them you do not have a tv, but beware apparently in the futurewe are going to pay a tv licence fee for owning a computer instead of a tv

You need a TV licence? Why would you need a TV licence? Glad I live in America, (for the next couple weeks anyways)

Its not harrassment.

They have a job to do and alot of people do have TV's and not but TV licence's.

So bear with them. They don't know so thats why they send out a standard letter and may call to your address to check.

You must be in England. I find this amusing as Americans don't have to pay for television. Why don't you hop on over and never get pestered for a TV license?

Invite them round to check you out. When they are convinced that you are telling the truth they will leave you alone for three years. I have recently started recieving letters concerning my lack of a TV licience. This is the first time in three years. They checked me out three years ago then left me alone. Now they have started up again. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about. Its just annoying.

If they get a signal from your house they can say you have a TV. also if you have brought one for someone else you have to fill in a licence form.
